What does an inspector do at checkdenwagen.de?

As an inspector in the checkdenwagen.de network, you travel to used cars — directly to the dealer, the private seller or the business premises — and assess the vehicle over roughly 1.5 hours using a standardised inspection protocol with more than 100 checkpoints. You inspect the paint and bodywork with a digital paint thickness gauge, read out the OBD fault memory, evaluate the engine, suspension and brakes, inspect the interior and documents, and carry out a test drive. You document your findings photographically and in a structured form within the checkdenwagen.de report system. The finished report goes to the customer within 24 hours of your inspection. You coordinate the viewing appointment independently with the seller; the client — the car buyer — does not need to be present. The assignments come through checkdenwagen.de, and you decide for yourself which ones to accept. Payment is made per completed check — transparently and clearly.

What we expect from our inspectors

The minimum requirement is a completed vocational apprenticeship as an automotive mechatronics technician or an equivalent qualification, combined with at least three years of hands-on experience in vehicle assessment, a workshop or a related automotive field. We give preference to applicants with a master automotive technician title or appraiser training, as well as proven experience at a recognised inspection organisation such as TÜV, DEKRA, GTÜ or KÜS — that experience is desirable but not a disqualifying criterion. In practical terms, the following are assumed: a category B driving licence, regional mobility (using your own car for assignments), self-employment as a working arrangement or the willingness to take it on, careful and complete documentation even with difficult counterparts, and a professional manner towards sellers and dealers. Your own measuring equipment — paint thickness gauge and OBD diagnostic tool — is an advantage; if you do not own any, you can clarify this during onboarding.

What we offer

Anyone working as an inspector in the checkdenwagen.de network receives nationwide assignments for used-car inspections — with no cold calling, no self-marketing and no administrative burden. You accept assignments in your region and according to your availability; there is no minimum quota and no fixed schedule. Payment is made transparently per completed check. We discuss the exact amount during the application process — we do not quote flat figures here, because they depend on the type of assignment, the region and the travel involved. The principle is: fair, transparent pay with no hidden deductions. Beyond that, we offer structured onboarding that familiarises you with the inspection protocol and supports your first assignments. You are not left alone with unclear cases: there is exchange within the network, and for technical borderline cases the checkdenwagen head office is available. For inspectors who want to expand their work, growing assignment numbers create real opportunities to extend their regional coverage area.

How does the application process work?

Send your application by email to karriere@checkdenwagen.de. Please include the following: an up-to-date CV, proof of your qualifications (journeyman's certificate, master craftsman's certificate, appraiser's ID or comparable certificates), and a brief note about your preferred region and your mobility (maximum willingness to travel in kilometres). Once we receive your documents, we review them and get back to you within a few working days. If your profile is a good fit, we invite you to a professional interview — by phone or video call. The conversation covers specific inspection scenarios, your experience with measuring equipment and your expectations for the collaboration. If it is a fit on both sides, onboarding follows. Your first independent assignments are awarded as soon as onboarding has been completed successfully.
