What is a used-car inspection?

A used-car inspection is a professional on-site examination of a used car by an independent expert — right at the seller's location, with no regard for any sales interest. Anyone who wants their dream car independently checked and tested before buying gets a neutral second opinion with this kind of car inspection — instead of blindly trusting the listing. checkdenwagen.de is a provider operating across Germany, based in Berlin: a qualified inspector from our network drives to the agreed location, examines the vehicle over around 1.5 hours using a standardised checklist of more than 100 points, and delivers a digital condition report within 24 hours. The result: you know exactly what you're buying before you sign — and you have a solid basis for price negotiations or for deciding against the purchase.

What is checked during the used-car inspection?

Paintwork & bodywork

Using digital ultrasonic paint-thickness measurement, we reveal to the millimetre whether the vehicle has been resprayed or whether filler has been used to conceal accident damage. Panel gaps, rust, dents and signs of repair are documented photographically — as hard evidence for price negotiations or for walking away from the purchase.

Engine & drivetrain

Visual and acoustic inspection of the engine, belts, bearings and cooling system. Leaks, unusual running noises and signs of wear are recorded — including an assessment of the remaining service life of critical components.

Transmission

Shift and shift-quality testing for both manual and automatic transmissions. Our inspector tests all gears for slipping, harsh shifts and unusual noises during the test drive.

Suspension & brakes

Visual inspection of shock absorbers, track rods, axle joints and brake discs. Brake-pad thickness, brake fluid and braking behaviour during the test drive all feed into the report.

Electronics & OBD diagnostics

Reading the fault memory via OBD-II gives immediate insight into stored faults in the engine, transmission and driver-assistance control units. A plausibility check of the mileage helps to detect odometer tampering.

Interior & comfort

The condition of seats, trim, carpets and headlining. Air conditioning, heating, electric windows, infotainment and lighting are checked for function. Cigarette odour or moisture damage is explicitly noted — details that are never visible in listing photos.

Documents & vehicle history

Vehicle registration parts I and II, the service book, the roadworthiness inspection (HU) and any available invoices are checked for completeness and plausibility. Does the number of previous owners match the documents? Was the roadworthiness inspection (HU) carried out regularly?

Price analysis

In the Premium inspection, we calculate the fair value of the vehicle based on its actual defects and the current market. This price analysis is your strongest argument in a price negotiation — concrete, evidenced and independent.

What our customers say

Used-car inspection in your city

Why checkdenwagen instead of DEKRA, TÜV or ADAC?

On-site at the seller — no detours

You don't have to take the vehicle to a testing station and you don't have to be present yourself. Our inspector comes to the vehicle, whether it's a dealer in Munich or a private seller out in the countryside. That saves time and effort, and prevents the seller from preparing the vehicle beforehand.

A quick appointment instead of weeks of waiting

Testing organisations such as DEKRA or TÜV work with long lead times — fine if you're in no hurry. When buying a used car, though, attractive offers are often gone quickly. checkdenwagen arranges appointments at short notice so you don't have to wait while someone else snaps it up.

Your own report with a price analysis

DEKRA and TÜV provide technical roadworthiness inspections — but not a market-oriented buying guide. Alongside the technical findings, our report (in the Premium inspection) contains a concrete price analysis: what is the vehicle really worth given its defects? That's your basis for the negotiation.

A fixed price with no surprises

No hourly rate, no fluctuating appraiser's fee — you pay one clear fixed price. Standard from €289, Premium from €339, travel included. What you see is what you pay.
